Julius Marine sees growing potential in marking offshore wind farms

Offshore wind energy makes an enormous contribution to clean and environmentally friendly energy generation and is one of the main pillars in the renewable energy mix for Germany. In 2019, 5 new offshore wind farms were connected to the grid, increasing the total number to 21 offshore wind farms in Germany (18 North Sea and 3 Baltic Sea). This means that Germany has already reached its target of 6,500 MW at the beginning of 2020. Fortunately, the German government is holding out the prospect of increasing the offshore wind expansion targets by 15-20 GW by 2030.

Considering the extended expansion targets and the fact that there is only about 10 years from investigation to grid connection of the offshore wind farms, we see great potential for our offshore activities, says Christian Cammin, Managing Director of Julius Marine GmbH. We have a great interest in participating in this ambitious project and to support the owners and operators with our knowhow and services to mark offshore wind farms.
